The National Bank of Ukraine is gradually easing the currency restrictions imposed during martial law. In particular, on April 14, 2022, the ban on the sale of cash foreign currency to the public was lifted.
It was: On February 24, 2022, the National Bank banned the sale of foreign currency in Ukraine. The sale was allowed only in areas threatened by occupation by the aggressor state, or for the purchase of critical imports.
Became: from April 14, 2022, the National Bank allowed the sale of cash foreign currency to the public.
At the same time, in order to prevent pressure on the foreign exchange market, authorized institutions, in particular banks, may sell cash currency within the difference between the total volume of purchases and sales of cash currency. The available cash currency should be clarified with the authorized institutions on the day of the transaction.
The rate of sale of cash currency by authorized institutions may deviate by no more than 10% from the official exchange rate of the NBU on the day of the transaction. The rate of purchase of cash currency by authorized institutions must be equal to or higher than the official rate of the NBU on the day of the transaction.
We would like to draw your attention to the fact that the purchase of non-cash foreign currency by the population is still prohibited, except for the exceptions specified in Resolution №18 of February 24, 2022
